Sylina was born in the Hotep province of Myridia as the youngest child of Ostro and Lorelle Kelwynd. Her mother died giving birth to her. Where some families would resent her for killing her mother during childbirth, her father and brother knew it was not her fault and loved her more than anything in the world.
At age 18, Sylina was betrothed to Corsar Barmoor, the son of a wealthy Myridian noble. Before the wedding night, however, Corsar, in a drunken rage, beat and attempted to rape Sylina. The guards stopped him but her brother Vronti saw this offense as inexcusable and beheaded Corsar in a trial by combat. The murder of Corsar forced them to leave Myridia and move to Sol where Sylina hopes to find a suitable husband for herself.
